1. Certificate Backlog at Amateur Radio Service Centre has been cleared
On Tuesday April 21, 2026, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada
(ISED) informed Radio Amateurs of Canada that they have cleared the backlog of
Amateur Radio certificates.
Due to problems with a supplier, ISED has been unable to print and send
Amateur Radio Operator certificates since approximately the beginning of 2026.
Radio Amateurs and clubs that have been waiting for certificates should receive
them in the next few weeks as Canada Post delivers them across the country.

2. RAC Seeks new Editor of The Canadian Amateur Magazine
Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) is now accepting applications for the position
of Editor of The Canadian Amateur magazine as the current TCA Editor is retiring.
Applications should be sent to RAC Office Manager Adam MacDonell at racgm @ rac.ca.
Deadline is May 15, 2026.

3. Simcoe County Hamfest 10th Anniversary Edition
Sponsor :Simcoe County Amateur Radio Enthusiasts
Date :Saturday, May 9, 2026
Location:Grenfel Comunity Center, 1989 Sunnidale Road.
Times :Setup 8:00 AM. Admission 9:00 AM, Closing around noon
Cost :$5.00 for vendors. Free admission for public
:donation jars for Grenfel Community Centre building fund and SCARE radio.
Talk-in :146.55 Mhz Simplex
Description:Vendors this is a tailgate event. Bring your own tables and chairs.
If the weather gets nasty we move under the covered rink area.
We have door prize draw at 10:00 AM.
We will have coffee, free cold water, and a fully equipped test table.
Make sure you stop at the gate to collect your draw ticket, free of charge.

4. AST SpaceMobile to use 430 MHz band for 248 satellites
On April 21, the FCC announced that AST SpaceMobile (AST & Science, LLC)
will be using the Amateur 430 MHz band for 248 satellites in its planned
Low-Earth-Orbit constellation which aims to provide global cellular
broadband communications.
Center frequencies are 430.5 MHz, 432.3 MHz, 434.1 MHz, 435.9 MHz, 439.5 MHz
with 50 kHz bandwidth.
