There is NO fee and there is NO requirement to attend ours, or another clubs course to write the exam. Club or RAC membership is not required.

The delegated examiner is located near Shallow lake, On, just west of Owen Sound on Hwy6. Send email examiner@gbarc.ca to inquire about availability.

Download the blank application form below, you have a choice of an Adobe fillable form or a plain ol' vanilla form to fill out manually. Print it out and bring it with you when you write the exam. New hams can list 3 preferred callsigns, ISED will take the first one that's available starting at 1.

If you are upgrading your certification, I require your original certificate number. It is 11 or 12 digits long and starts with the year you were first licensed in Canada.

Please be prepared with government-issued photo ID so that I can verify that you are, indeed, you. I do not retain this information. A Driver's License or a Passport + proof of your residency in Canada is required.

Make sure you use a valid email address. ISED will use that email to contact you .

During the exam you may not use a calculator that has memory functions within it unless you reset it in front of the examiner. Using a cell phone during the exam is not permitted.

Fill out the form as follows

After you complete the exam.

I will grade your answers and will inform you then if you passed or not.

I can sometimes submit the results to ISED right away but be prepared for me to "get around to it". I will return email your completed application with confirmation number.

Once I do, ISED will email you and make contact and request you create an account. I have never actually personally seen the webpages ISED will direct you to, so it would be great if someone could take screen shots so I can include that information here. It usually doesn't take them long to assign the callsign, once they do you can go on the air. The paper licence will follow.

Note: On the account pages, you will be given the opportunity to either display your mailing address or to leave it blank. Just so you know, if you do not display your address, you leave yourself vulnerable to others using your callsign without your knowledge.

If there is any issue with your licence application, I can contact ISED on your behalf.
