Repeater (in)activity
Three simple steps to breathe life back into our local repeater

1. Turn your radio ON

2. Leave your radio ON

3. When a station comes on the frequency, TALK to THEM

Good chatting with you last night!
Look forward to having a few contacts today using VA3RAC!

Well 2 out of 3 isn't bad, or so I hear.
I have my radio in my apartment on.
I leave it on day and night. It keeps any imaginary friends I may have who drop by unexpectedly for a visit occupied if I am not aware that they are with me.
So now I guess I should work on number 3. I'll work on that one some day.

I travel to work between 5:45 and 6:30 AM and home between 4:30 and 5:15 PM every day and generally have the radio on for the Paisley repeater.
Often talk to Don VE3IDS but would be good to catch up with others.

Is there still a net on local repeaters?

Thanks.

I talked to a guy from BC who was visiting here. But I usually only keep the radio on when out for a march in the woods.

I was out last week via canoe but there was so much lightening, thunder and rain that i did not put my antenna up - i was going to try to check into the ragchew on Sunday night - I tried one time a few weeks ago but heard nothing; is this still going on?

Rick VE3US is the net co-ordinator. If I understand it, the nets are taking a summer break, to return in September.

Oh - that explains why I heard nothing. I thought the rag-chew was ongoing over the summer too. The last time I spoke with Rick was when I was in Algonquin for a week two weeks ago.

Nets

Just FYI, there is no net control station for the future unless there are volunteers for this. I can post a net control schedule on the home page if there is an interest.

But there are a lot of things we could do ...like

Foxhunts, anyone can be the fox
BBQ, anyone can have a get together bbq
Contests, anyone can have an operating night at their qth for any contest
Coffee, have an eyeball qso, pick your day and time

and likely many more things I have not listed here... but anything to get the group together would be a plus

Got any Ideas?

Hi Tom:
I am more than happy to do net control. Let me know and we can make it happen!
Thanks.

Hi Rob, Rick US had the 2 mtr net on Wednesdays at 7:30pm, for many years the net was on Tuesdays at 7:30pm but it can be any day or time that suits you. Lets hope others will volunteer to help out and take a turn at net control. Here are a couple of examples of net preambles, but it's all optional.... 73 Tom
