Got me a brand new HT for doing the cross band repeat. Looks like I'm going to have to hire a 10 year old to come and program it for me.

Tom, there is a software package with cable available to program the DJ500 from your computer. Costs about $50 USD plus shipping from RT Systems.

Radioworld is a supplier for RT Systems products. You may want to do the dollar calculation to see if they are cheaper. Their software makes life so much easier.

Yes. I was looking at that, and I WANT IT. But it will have to wait for my cash flow to increase a wee bit.

Maybe take a look at the CHIRP programming app.

https://chirp.danplanet.com/

I haven't used it, but have read many good reports. The website has a long list of supported radios & IT'S FREE :-)

I ordered 1 of the DJ-500T’s from RadioWorld & have received it. You’re right, it requires my grandson to program it using the manual functions. I have ordered the programming software and patch cable from Durham Radio. It should be here next week sometime. I would have ordered from RadioWorld but they are more expensive & available ONLY on special order. Also, while everything is available from other sources on the internet and the prices are cheaper, the overall costs when you include taxes, shipping & handling and currency exchange rates, etc, make everything more expensive then the approximately $82.00 inclusive from Durham Radio.
