Note that the 1/2 wave and 1/4 wave formulas have the 95% "K factor" that we typically use for wire antennas on HF, built in.

For VHF or UHF, a lot of antennas use tubing elements. That can make K significantly different from 95%, based on the length/diameter ratio of the elements. There are tables in the ARRL Handbook & Antenna Book, also on various sites online. Here's a link to a good write-up on "K" by Don, VA3DDN: http://hamguyparts.com/files/Download/Ecd_res.pdf

Lots of neat stuff on the Zola website. It would help to know Portuguese though :-)
