To all Amateur Radio operators,
Our annual BPMR radio support net event is coming up on August 8th, 2026. BPMR is calling for volunteer radio operators for Saturday August 8th to provide time sensitive racer welfare updates at the exits of the cross-county (off-road) portions of the race as well as a few strategic convergent points. The course is the same as last year that is best covered with 6 or more radio operators. This event is a great way to test your get up and go VHF radio station capabilities in your vehicle or portable station with antenna. My VHF backpack with antenna raised in a tree for example works well in remote sites that requires an antenna high off the ground for better line of sight transmission. We have even used cross-band repeat the odd time where it was required and tested by individual operators in areas for convenience of racer observation.
Should you be interested in volunteering to assist in this event, go the the link below and register as a HAM Radio operator;
https://forms.gle/St3DhRY5yT2xyLrG8
In a couple of places, you should enter HAM Radio to make sure the organizers keep you with the radio group.
- for Contact Number (Race Day - if different from above): enter HAM Radio
- for I have volunteered before and: * select Other & enter HAM Radio
Even if you have volunteered before or not, follow the above entry method.
Do let me know by reply to this announcement once you have registered so that I can add you to my list before the organizers let me know who the volunteers are.
Looking forward to seeing you there as part of the radio team.
