POTA activation #6
#1
Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about doing another Parks on the Air (POTA) activation as a group. I had a great time at the last one, and it sounds like you did too.

This is a fantastic opportunity to hone our skills on portable operation from a scenic location. It’s a great way to practice setting up a station quickly and efficiently in the field.

Would anyone be interested in another activation within the next few weeks? I'm pretty flexible and would love to find a time and date that works for as many of you as possible.

Also, does anyone have a specific park they've been wanting to activate? I'm open to suggestions! Let me know what you think and what times might work for you. We can coordinate the best date, time, and location once we get some feedback.
Hope to hear from you soon!

The weather report for this Thursday says 16 deg c but no rain. So I'd like to try another, I'll just dress accordingly....

I'd like to see Bobby pick something a bit closer to his qth, he travels quite a bit to accommodate us

This is my latest creation...the extendable whip goes to 17 feet, its on a tripod I scrounged from the scrap metal bin. Meanr for 20m and up. I have an endfed wire for 40 and I'll use the same feedline choke.

This feedline choke I made up to help with rf currents on the feedline. Hopefully this will encourage rf to use the counterpoise instead

That should work. May have to anchor it down at Coploys. It gets pretty windy at times. Nice spot.
I thought of making something like that myself but don't have any masts that high. The Rybakov multiband antenna is one I am interested in building. Maybe next year.

Thursday sounds good here.

I'll wait till Bobby reports his findings... maybe google maps is enough and doesn't require driving there just to look around

We should have a nice evening for this activation with temperatures in the twenties.

If using Smart Logger, name the log "yourcall@CA-6007-20250911" so it is ready to submit to VE3OSR POTA account. Don't forget to enter the club call VE3OSR in the Log Setting (required) as well as other info for you own reference at a later time.

See you at Coploy's Lookout.
