1. New 60-Meter Frequencies Available in USA as of February 13
The new 60-meter frequencies approved by the FCC in December will become available to
USA amateurs as of February 13, 2026, along with new power restrictions on those frequencies.
It’s a bit confusing, as different rules apply to different segments of the band. The changes
result from the FCC’s action to approve a worldwide 60-meter amateur allocation made by
the World Radiocommunication Conference in 2015 (WRC-15).

2. ACS GH Presents - PORTABLE OPERATIONS HINTS AND KINKS- JANUARY 28 2026

3. "Operation Claybelt Response" Exercise and Communications Expo (09:00 - 18:00)
If you are near Sudbury on January 24, 2026 you may want to attend the expo and see
RAC's Auxiliary Communications Service in action. You can explore emergency vehicles
and equipment, meet the RAC A.C.S. team and observe the training exercise.
The scenario is modelled after the Haileybury wildfire of October 4th and 5th, 1922.
The exercise will:
Test interoperability between the radio networks
Simulate loss of primary infrastructure
Deploy ACS volunteers
Activate Winlink messaging
Evaluate realtime mapping and population tracking using GPS tools.
Expo is happening at the Dr. Edgar Leclair Arena, 158 St. Agnes St., Azilda, ON P0M 1B0

4. Winter Field Day is January 24, and 25th 2026
The Winter Field Day event aims to help participants improve their preparedness for disasters
and enhance their operational abilities in adverse conditions. Amateur radio operators have the
freedom to use frequencies on the HF, VHF, or UHF bands while employing voice, CW, and digital
transmissions. The event designates specific objectives to encourage a diverse range of activities,
including the use of non-commercial power sources, the deployment of multiple antennas,
establishing satellite contacts, and more.
