I think it's time we had a conversation regarding the replacement of the old Paisley repeater. The replacement is in progress but seems to have stalled. In light of Explornet upgrading the building at the repeater site, we should do our part and clean up our equipment. It should be noted that the current MSF5000 repeater is nearly 50 years old, any parts are unobtainium as well as people around to work on them.

This is the newer Paisley repeater .... this equipment,  MTR2000 is something in the order of 20 years old but is very reliable. Currently the club has 2 of these at the VE3OSR site, the one shown in the picture plus a spare set up as a portable unit.



I am well aware of the current state of the feedline at Paisley and this issues it causes..... but this has nothing to do with upgrading our club equipment.   73

I agree.  I will contact Bernie and see what the status is.  Now that the snow is gone, we will be able to get access to the building.

Hi, yes its been on the back burner for long enough. My heart has not been in this project and it should be handed over to someone that would have the interests and ambition to play with this and get this off the ground.

A conversation regarding the Paisley update was had, long story short, I will be involved with the updates. To this end, the existing equipment will be removed asap after the Wednesday net on the 9th of April. Bernie and I will attend the site on the 10th wx permitting, and take out the old GBT repeater duplexers, batteries and APRS gear and bring it all back to my qth in Shallow Lake. I will then use the existing cat1000 controller in the newer setup and get it all working. We will then return it to Paisley and put it in service. The plan is to have it back before the net on April 30th. 

In the meantime, we will leave the VE3OST repeater at Paisley for those who wish to use it, fingers crossed it all goes well. There is always the possibility of receiver desense when at a site that has more than 1 transmitter. The existing combiners are tuned for our freq of 146.730 plus the Environment Canada transmitter at 162.425. VE3OST is at 146.895 tone 97.4 ... about 25 watts leaving the duplexer. There will be no link to VE3OSR during this time, but the Wednesday evening net will continue uninterrupted for those that can access OSR.
