Field day 2011
_________________________________________________________________

Field Day 2011 This year field day started with a bit of precipitation, not too much but enough for it to be wet underfoot and forcing us to bring along rain gear as well as all the other gear and equipment. In spite of the wet stuff, setup went smoothly with the clubs' portable tower being erected without incident, the 3 element Hf beam was next and other than a bad connection on the driven element, which was repaired by Gene IJD, it loaded up just fine. The pictures below show some of the equipment we used, as well as a 6 meter beam constructed by Adam VE3IZS. This year we ordered in pizza from Owen sound, so that was different and although there was some goodies left over at the end of it all, there was not as much as our pot lucks from previous years. This year was our first try with logging software for the 3 stations. We had them networked together and considering that the results were posted 1 day after field day I can only guess things went very smoothly. We had a visit from the
Owen Sound Sun Times who did an interview with us regarding field day and distracted driving legislation. The link to the newspaper writeup is as follows:
We also had visits from our local MPP Bill Murdoch and the Dock 92.3FM a local Radio Station who interviewed us about field day and amateur radio in general. When I get some more info on this I'll post it. So, all in all we had another great field day, many thanks to Toni and Bob Vary VE3NX who were our hosts this year and thanks to Daphne Lorch VA3DFL who brought along goodies and treats for everyone to enjoy. 73 VA3TS
